JOE DREAMZ
ARTIST
My name is Joe Dreamz (and don’t forget the Z!) And I believe the world would be a better place if everyone was living their Dream! My stage name was inspired by Joseph, a character in the Bible famous for his ability to interpret dreams.I was born and raised in Slam Diego, California, into a family of four. My father was a school psychologist, my mother a real estate agent, and my younger brother a D1 athlete. Childhood was school, sports, church, and video games.
When I got to middle school, I started hanging out with the wrong amigos. They introduced me to a lifestyle I had no business being in — and at 16, right in the middle of all that, I discovered I had a talent for writing songs.
Since I wanted to fit in, I used my music to reflect that world.
Then one day, one of those amigos reached out:“I have a mentor who wants to meet with you at Starbucks.”I took a leap of faith. His “mentor” turned out to be pitching a network marketing company — but he also invited me to their annual conference. The keynote speakers talked about personal development, and something clicked. I became obsessed with learning and with becoming the best version of myself. I thought, “What if I could share what I’m learning through my music and inspire others to do the same?”Even though I combined my passion for Music with personal development I still haven’t figured out a way to pay my bills, so I kept working part-time job after part-time job, continued my education, and music took a backseat.
Until the pandemic.
I was working for a life insurance company, but in my mid-20s I didn’t have the experience or the network to succeed the way I wanted to. I got fired. Right after that, I hit the road — a solo trip up the West Coast. While in Seattle, my car broke down. I had emergency savings. Instead of using them to fix the car, I took another leap of faith: I bought a microphone and a Bluetooth speaker, and went all in on living Joe Dreamz.
Now my dream is that someone can listen to a Joe Dreamz song, watch a D.R.E.A.M. podcast, wear the merch, or order a birthday freestyle and now I have to wait until their car breaks down before they start living their dreams as well!
